Using the principles of Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), I work with caregivers to increase their sense of empowerment and self-efficacy in the midst of a mental health crisis for their loved one. Every caregiver deserves to “parent with confidence” again and the skills and coaching within EFFT will help you get there.
Is your child struggling with a mental health issue that you feel unequipped to manage? Does your child have emotional dysregulation that you lack confidence tending to? Are you often at a loss of what to say to your child when they are hurting? Do you feel stripped of your confidence in knowing how to help your child? Are you facing your own fears, pain and vulnerability as you attempt to help your child navigate theirs? You are not alone. Through the use of Emotion Focused Family Therapy (EFFT), I have helped to equip and empower many caregivers with skills to support their loved one. Together, we will explore your own emotional and caretaking responses to a child in crisis and we will build new avenues of connecting with authentic empathy around your child’s pain. This work will focus heavily on the love between the parent-child relationship and how to use this connection to support the containment of your child’s mental health issues.
Together, let’s explore the way your mind reacts to your child’s mental health or “life” issue and work to mend the parent-child relationship.
“The irony of a parent-child relationship is that, at any given moment, you never know who is teaching whom.”
