Welcome to Mind & Mend, I am Patsy Carlson, a Licensed Professional Counselor with 10 years of experience in the treatment of eating disorders and co-occurring mental health concerns in the child and adolescent population. I have practiced primarily in high level-of-care environments, including the in-patient, residential and partial hospitalization settings. I began specializing in eating disorders in 2011, during the completion of my Master’s degree in Professional Counseling. Through most of my career, I have worked primarily with children, adolescents, families and most notably, direct caregivers of loved ones navigating a mental health concern.
Prior to joining Eating Recovery Center’s (ERC) Child & Adolescent Program in Denver, Colorado in 2013, I gained valuable years of practice and training at both Rosewood Centers for Eating Disorders and Remuda Ranch. In my 8 years at ERC, I have had the equal privilege of working directly with patients and families as well as serving in a Leadership role within the hospital, providing licensure and job supervision to Therapists and facilitating trainings specific to the FBT and EFFT modalities. My clinical experience in this field has also given me expertise in the treatment and care of:
- Anxiety Disorders – Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Social Anxiety Disorder (SAD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD)
- Depression
- Body Image – Body Image Distress, Body Image Distortion, Body Dysmorphic Disorder (BDD)
- Family & Relational Conflict
- Life Transitions
- Self Esteem
- Social, Emotional & Academic Stress
